How Frankly You Started: From a Dusty Pub Office to Leakproof Freedom

If you’ve followed Frankly You for a while, you might already know that we’re all about keeping things real. So it’s only fitting that our story starts exactly where most honest conversations happen — in a dusty old pub office in Williamstown.

For years, I’d been sharing my not-so-glamorous stories with the girls (and sometimes the guys) at the pub. You know the ones — the “I laughed too hard and nearly wet myself” moments or the surprise sneeze that turned into a full-blown accident. I was sick of wearing panty liners every day. They never stayed stuck, I could never work out which bloody way they were meant to go, and honestly… they made me feel embarrassed and old before my time.

One day, after yet another story, my dad — in true dad fashion — casually suggested, “Why don’t you get some of those incontinence undies like the old ladies wear?”

Now, absolutely not was I about to wear what I lovingly refer to as a nappy. No chance. But his comment did spark something… a thought, an irritation, a question:

Why wasn’t there something better?

Something that didn’t look like my nanna’s bloomers from the 60s — but still gave me the protection I desperately needed. I didn’t want a full-blown period knicker. I didn’t want bulky. I didn’t want beige. I didn’t want to feel gross.

So I started researching.

And trying things.

And let me tell you… there were products out there that worked at keeping you dry — but flattering? Not even close. Under tight clothes? Forget it. The panty lines alone would have been visible from space. Some pairs were so big they could double as a parachute.

During this time, I kept having conversation after conversation with Bek (now the Frankly You co-founder) and so many other women who felt exactly the same frustration. We were all tired of choosing between looking cute and feeling confident. And with our shared passion for more eco-friendly, reusable options, the mission started to take shape.

So I went on the hunt.

Not just for something good — but for something great.

We raided department stores buying any underwear we thought had potential just so we could show manufacturers what we did and didn’t like. I spent hours — honestly, probably days — online talking to wholesalers, comparing materials, reviewing stitching styles, and asking about absorbency levels.

And then came the samples. Around fifty of them. Different cuts, fabrics, pad designs, elastics, waist heights — you name it, we tested it.

And finally… our seamfree leakproof underwear was born.

A range designed to make you feel protected and confident. Soft, flattering, comfortable, and invisible under clothing — with four different styles so there’s something perfect for every day and every occasion.

From that dusty pub office to now, Frankly You has always been about one thing:

Giving women the freedom to laugh, sneeze, jump, live, and be without the fear of leaking.

And honestly? We’re just getting started.
